Mali: I have no comment, Teodorovic has his own opinion
The Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali didn’t want to comment today on the statement of Dusan Teodorovic, the President of the Board of SANU for High Education, that Mali’s doctoral theses is a “severe plagiarism”. In 2014, Pescanik published the article of Rasa Karapandza where it was stated that more than 33% of the content in Mali’s doctoral thesis on FON (Faculty of Organizational Sciences) was plagiarized.
The story that doctoral theses of certain politicians were plagiarized, emerged in 2014, and among the first debatable doctoral thesis was the one of the Minister of Police, Nebojsa Stefanovic. He obtained the PhD from Megatrend University. After Stefanovic’s thesis, the thesis of Sinisa Mali on FON and Alesandar Sapic on Union University were also analyzed.
President of the Board of SANU for High Education, Dusan Teodorovic has stated in the interview for “Vreme” magazine that he had an access to the thesis of Sinisa Mali, and that it was a “severe plagiarism”.
He said that it’s also “quite unusual” that this regards an economist who obtained PhD from FON in technical sciences, and that on the committee that was debating the thesis of Sinisa Mali, there were three members whose references are atrocious, and basically “non-existent”.
The Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali, however, did not want to comment on the statement of Teodorovic, but he said that “if someone is digging through this subject during the last week of the campaign for some reason, than this is his problem”.
“I haven’t got any comment, he has his own opinion. I presume that if he was judging the yesterday’s soccer game between CSKA and Crvena Zvezda, he would organize the last charge of Crvena Zveza much better”, Mali stated to the reporters after setting the foundation stone for the Belgrade on Water Tower.
Sinisa Mali defended his doctoral thesis with the title “Values creation through the process of restructuring and privatization – theoretic concepts and experiences of Serbia” at FON University in Belgrade.
On Pescanik website on July 10th 2014, the article by professor Rasa Karapandza was published, where it was stated that 33% or more of the Mali’s thesis content on FON University was plagiarized.
“The doctoral thesis of Mr. Sinisa Mali is one of the worst plagiarisms that Serbian public has ever had a chance to encounter”, Karapandza stated in the article, and added that Sinisa Mali undeservedly obtained the PhD title.
President of the Board of SANU for High Education, Dusan Teodorovic has stated in the interview for “Vreme” magazine that it is dreadful that there are so many new politicians with faculty diploma in management from some private universities.
He said: “This leaves catastrophic results and this is why I’ll, as a President of this Board (SANU), raise my voice as high as I can. I’m nobody’s political enemy, this should be perceived as a cry, and it’s in Serbia’s interest”.
