The last suspect for the murder of Brice Taton extradited to Serbia

Dejan Puzigaca, who was charged for murder of the French citizen Brice Taton in downtown Belgrade in 2009, was extradited to Serbia after seven months of detention in Athens.  Puzigaca is second suspect for the murder of Taton and he will have the opportunity to ask for the repetition of the trial.

Dejan Puzigaca joined the monastery in the Ortodox Church in Quatar, and he landed at the Belgrade Airport Nikola Tesla dressed in a monastic uniform. Two plainclothes officers were accompanying him from Athens.

A quick reminder – Dejan Puzigaca, who took the church name Monk Sava in the meantime, was arrested in September last year at the airport in Athens because of the Interpol’s warrant. The news of the arrest got the attention of the public. At the moment of the arrest, the convict admitted that his name is Dejan Puzigaca and there is a warrant for his arrest.

Puzigaca was convicted for 32 years in prison by first instance ruling, but the punishment was changed to 14 years of prison by the ruling of the Court of Appeal in 2012.

In the meantime, the repeated trial began in Serbia for the first suspect Djordje Pelic for the murder of Brice Taton. This process is in its early stage and by the end of the month the first testimonies of the protected witnesses are expected.

Puzigaca will also have the opportunity in the next six months to ask for the repetition of the trial.
